The best tips on achieving your ideal weight loss wont be found in tabloid magazines or television commercials. Lauren Antonucci, M.S., R.D., C.S.S.D., C.D.E., C.D.N., Owner/Director of Nutrition Energy, NYC, knows how to get you on track with a weight loss plan that works for you, so you can lose weight and keep it off for good.
Lauren: So how do you achieve your ideal weight loss? Well we want you to look at the big picture, talk to your doctor, find a registered dietitian that can help you with this. Really make it a point to make it a goal for yourself, one to two pounds a week for most people is doable, attainable, sustainable, and healthy. Remember the name of the game at the end of this is that this is a lifestyle change, and it should make you healthier and happier. If we lose weight too quickly, more than two pounds a week for most people, there are health implications. You will lose more lean body mass, or more protein, which will decrease your metabolic rate and therefore make it harder for you to sustain your weight, which is not what you want to do. If you attempt to lose weight too quickly you really under-eat on calories, it will of course adversely affect your ability to think, and move, and go about your normal day. And that's not going to be good for you in terms of your normal life, or for your long term weight loss success. So make sure you do it healthfully, please try not to pay attention to any of those ads that promise 30 pounds in 30 days. Either something's not quite right, or it's not really truly legitimate. So make sure you're realistic with your goals and expectations, and then you'll keep motivating yourself to succeed.
