Losing a pound a week is much easier than you might think. Lauren Antonucci, M.S., R.D., C.S.S.D., C.D.E., C.D.N., Owner/Director of Nutrition Energy, NYC, shares her easy to follow tips to achieve your weekly goals.
Lauren: So how do you really lose a pound a week? Let's break it down. A pound a week weight loss represents a 500 calorie deficit per day over those seven days. What can you do? You can add a one mile walk, or that amount of exercise everyday, that's 100 calories. You can eliminate an 8 ounce glass of juice or soda. That's another 100 to 150 calories. You can decrease your dessert portion from a two or three hundred calorie portion of dessert to a 100 or 150 calorie portion of dessert. That will save you another 150 calories. To shave off a few additional calories that you really wont even notice, is stop eating your lunch and dinner two bites before you ordinarily would. Each bite will represent almost 40 or 50 calories, two or three less bites per meal, pretty simple to do, save you that final 100 to 200 calories and there you go, a pound a week, simple.
