Remember when your mother used to say, 'Don't spoil your dinner'? Well, Lauren Antonucci, M.S., R.D., C.S.S.D., C.D.E., C.D.N., Owner/Director of Nutrition Energy, NYC, has reasons why you should go for that healthy snack between meals, instead of coming to the table starving.
Lauren: If you find yourself getting too hungry before meals, make sure you nip that in the bud. Insert healthy snacks between meals. Snacks don't need to be something that we fear. Snacks are great ways to get in healthy foods and prevent ourselves from getting too hungry. We all know that when you show up to a meal starving, or when you go shopping starving, you will make choices you didn't mean to make or you will overeat. So bring an apple with you, bring low fat cheese, a yogurt, some vegetables, a half a sandwich. These can all be great tools, things that you might enjoy, will look forward to eating, and will help keep you from being too hungry at your next meal.
