"Vinyasa Yoga is the marriage of breath and movement." Lana Masor, MS, 500-RYT, introduces us to the art of Vinyasa and why so many people have begun to practice this specific form of yoga.
Lana: Vinyasa Yoga is the marriage of breath and movement, so the body moves quickly from pose to pose rather than holding each pose for a lengthy amount of time. The benefit of that is that you elevate your heart rate so at the end of a practice you feel like you worked your body. It also teaches you how to utilize your muscles to help support your posture and strengthen the body at the same time. I think yoga is becoming more and more popular because people are finally realizing the benefits that it can bring to the body as well as the mind; and for the first time in a long time, doctors of Western medicine are suggesting it as a practice to their patients as a way to heal the body. If you're a beginner, a yoga practice is a wonderful thing to do for your body; Vinyasa especially is something that will bring you many, many health benefits, physically, spiritually and mentally.
